A DAGENHAM schoolgirl claimed an excellent second place trophy in the under-11's mixed category at the Redbridge Classic Squash Tournament.

Collette Whittingdon, 11, (pictured left) won the runners up trophy after narrowly losing to the number one under-11 from Hertfordshire 6-15 and 10-15.

The Beam Primary School pupil won all her matches in her group without losing a game and won two matches without dropping a point. She won her group and faced the runner-up in the other group, another member of her Squash Club YMCA Romford, Connor Burnett. Collette won this match 15-10, 15-3.

Collette has also been competing in the Girl's under-13's category and recently came seventh at the Winchester Open recently. She has climbed the England Rankings for this category from 37th in March to 32nd in April.

Collette was also in action on Sunday in Belgium representing the Romford YMCA and won all three of her matches to win her group beating a 16-year-old in the process.
