NICKY COOK is booked for his first ring appearance since the disappointment of defeat against Steve Luevano in his world title bid last July, when big time boxing returns to east London's Docklands with the Sports Network promotion at the ExCel Arena on Saturday.

Dagenham's former British and European champion, who suffered his first defeat in 27 ring appearances when he lost that clash with Luevano for the vacant WBO featherweight championship, insisted that his world title dreams are far from over.

The 28-year-old makes his return at the spacious Newham Arena where he faces Russian Kirkor Kirkorov, who has been beaten in this country by Kevin Mitchell in a IBF Inter-Continental super featherweight title clash in 2006 and earlier by Kevin Lear, when he challenge for the WBU super featherweight title.

Ross Minter, based at Newham's TKO Gym, is also out to bounce back from a defeat when he challenges Michael Jennings for the WBU welter title.

Minter was beaten by American Freddie Curiel in his last ring appearance and appears alongside TKO stablemate Matthew Marsh on the show.

The bill features former Olympic silver star Amir Khan, who defends his Commonwealth lightweight title against Gairy St Clair.

Also booked for the Sports Network return to the Docklands Arena are - Liverpool's WBU featherweight king Derry Matthews, light middleweight Sam Webb and Norwich's Walsh brothers featherweight Liam, bantam Ryan and flyweight Michael.
