Big win for Goresbrook under-16s over Bentley

238-run victory comes on back of 13-run defeat.
Goresbrook under-16s recovered from last week’s 13-run defeat to Bentley to beat Buckhurst Hill by an incredible 238 runs on Sunday.
In last weekend’s Group One contest at Coxtie Green, Bentley batted first, scoring 171-6.
Skipper Daryl Forward was in fine form with the ball and was backed up admirably by seamers Luke Read who had figures of 0-17 and Bobby Gaymer, 1-13 plus spinners Billy Smith, who took 1-29 and Shane Barwick, 1-17.
In reply, Read, Gaymer and Brad Reed all fell with the score at just seven. A mini fight-back ensued with Ben Irving joining Barwick at the crease.
The pair moved the score on to 44, before Irving was bowled out as the wickets tumbled once again.
But 13-year-old Barwick was in fine fettle and finished with 81, only to run out of partners and ’Brook’s score of 158 was just short.
Goresbrook made short work of next opponents Buckhurst Hill however.
A club record fifth-wicket stand of 121 between Luke Read and Joel Oliver turned the match the home side’s way.
Read finished on 101, while Oliver hit 100 as ’Brook reached 302 all out.
In reply, Hill were never in the hunt as Daryl Forward, Liam Addison, Billy Smith, Shane Barwick, Brad Reed and Bobby Gaymer tore through the order.
