Elliott Romain fired Essex club to success on 610-mile round-trip

Liam Gordon paid tribute to the travelling Dagenham & Redbridge fans after their 1-0 victory at Barrow in the Vanarama National League on Saturday.

Daggers, along with their supporters, made the 610-mile round-trip to Holker Street at the weekend.

Those that made the journey, though, were rewarded when Elliott Romain struck a late winner for Peter Taylor’s men to secure a second league triumph in a row.

The victory also saw the Victoria Road outfit keep a third clean sheet in succession, having conceded in each of their first seven league games this term.

The success is sure to have added to the confidence of the Daggers squad ahead of Saturday’s game with Chesterfield and Gordon is pleased with their recent form.

“Three clean sheets on the bounce and another win, let’s keep it up,” the teenager posted on social media site Twitter.

“Thanks to the travelling fans, we go again Saturday.”
