Barking got back to winning ways in Bostik North with success against struggling Soham Town at Mayesbrook Park.

Only seven minutes had been played when Joshua Davison put the Blues ahead with his first goal for the club, firing a low shot across Josh Pope and into the net.

But the visitors could have levelled when a near post cross was scuffed wide, before Darelle Russell doubled Barking’s advantage on 34 minutes, volleying home from Ricky Tarbard’s cross.

Jack Mochalski had an effort ruled out for offside in the second half as Soham sought a way back into the match, while Barking had penalty appeals for a challenge on substitute Ola Ogunwamide waved away.

Sam Mulready poked home a reply three minutes from time, from a long throw-in, but Barking held on to take the points and move up to 12th place in the table ahead of a midweek friendly at home against Three Bridges on Tuesday (7.45pm).
