Barking were beaten at the Aspen Waite Arena after conceding a goal in each half against the Swifts on Saturday.

Buoyed by their home win over struggling Soham Town Rangers a week earlier, while Heybridge were beaten by Great Wakering Rovers, Blues boss Justin Gardner made just one change to his starting line-up, bringing in Joe Bruce for Jack McQueen.

Swifts included former Blues duo Toib Adeyemi and Kreshnic Krasniqi in their XI, meanwhile, and the visitors found themselves behind on 25 minutes when Matthew Price beat Tim Brown.

Price proved the right man for Swifts again in the second half as he struck on 68 minutes to double their advantage and secure the points for Julian Dicks’ men.

Assistant boss Andre Thomas tweeted: “All about chances and being clinical. We did the first part but not the seconnd whereas our opponents did both parts.

“We’ll pllan something to try in training that’ll allow the players to do it gameday.”

An eighth defeat in 14 matches leaves Barking in 13th place, with a home match against second-placed Bowers & Pitsea up next at Mayesbrook Park on Saturday December 1.

Barking: Brown, Tarbard, Peart, O’Brien, Bruce, Cosson, Cheema, Seymour, Russell (De Silva 79), Kamara (Mignot 71), Davison. Unused subs: McQueen, Ogunwamide, Edwards.

Attendance: 258.
