Dagenham & Redbridge boss insists run stretching back four years must end
Wayne Burnett says Dagenham & Redbridge must put their first day blues behind them after the fixtures for the new season were announced.
Daggers begin their 2015/16 Sky Bet League Two campaign away to Portsmouth at Fratton Park on August 8.
The east Londoners have not won on the opening day since beating Macclesfield Town away at the start of the 2011/12, something which Burnett is keen to change.
“We spoke about our start not being great last season, I don’t think we’ve won on the opening day for at least four years, we need to try and change that,” he told the club website.
“Our form towards the back end of the season was play-off performances and results. If we can start as we finished then I’ll be pleased.”
When the fixtures are announced, fans across the country scour the lists to pick out their highlights.
And it seems Burnett is no exception, revealing two clubs that have taken his fancy.
“I always looked to see when we play my old pal John to see when we have them coming up.
“Obviously Leyton Orient because I have an affiliation with those teams and I look forward to all the games.”
