Daggers re-sign their former academy starlet from Millers of the Ryman North

Dagenham & Redbridge have announced the signing of Aveley forward Mason Bloomfield.

The 20-year-old initially came through the academy at Daggers before making his debut against Northampton Town in September 2014.

However, the young forward was released in the summer of 2015 and went on to play for a number of clubs before joining the Millers in December 2016.

It is Bloomfield’s form with the Ryman North club that alerted Daggers to their former youngster, with boss John Still deciding the time was right to re-sign him.

“Mason got recommended to us by Aveley’s manager (Terry Spillane), initially I didn’t know him but he is known by the club because he was here as a youth,” Still told the club website.

“The person who recommended him to the club was actually the person who told us about Dwight Gayle and we brought Dwight in the same way as Mason.

“We won’t be involving Mason right now, we will be loaning him back out to Aveley, but we will look to him as one for the future.”

The news that Bloomfield has rejoined Daggers comes just two days after the National League promotion hopefuls signed Eastbourne Borough’s Elliott Romain.
