Midfielder signs two-year deal with Daggers after leaving Gulls

Dagenham & Redbridge have made their second signing of the summer with the addition of Daniel Sparkes, who has signed a two-year deal.

The midfielder made 36 appearances for National League rivals Torquay United last summer, but has now made the switch to Victoria Road.

The 25-year-old started his career at Histon in 2009, before moving on to Braintree Town in the summer of 2012.

Sparkes was on the move again last summer moving to Torquay, but, after netting six goals in his solitary season with the Gulls, has now joined the Essex club.

The new Daggers signing, who can also play left-back is likely to face competition for the left midfield spot from the likes of Fejiri Okenabirhie and Jake Howells.

Sparkes is Daggers second signing of the summer following the arrival of Ben Nunn on a two-year deal from Boreham Wood, with plenty more new faces expected in the coming days.
