Dagenham & Redbridge have signed defender Nathan Smith on a permanent deal after he was released from League Two side Yeovil Town in the summer.
The 31-year-old, who can play at left-back and centre-back, joins the club on a season long deal.
Smith started his career with part-time London clubs Enfield, Waltham Forest and Potters Bar Town.
During his time at these clubs he also worked as a computer analyst before being discovered by Yeovil Town where he went on to make 113 appearances before rejecting a new contract to join Chesterfield.
He went onto spend another three seasons with the Spireites before returning to Yeovil in 2014.
Smith then appeared for The Glovers another 177 times accumulating over 370 appearances in the Football League.
Peter Taylor said: “Nathan is 31 years of age and has played a lot of football at Yeovil and Chesterfield, he is an excellent professional and we knew that he was available.
“He has not played a lot of football recently and that is where I have got to be a little bit careful on whether he starts a match, or how long he plays in a match.
“I believe that he is going to be a very good player for us when he is fully fit. Nathan is match fit now, it is just a question of how long he can last in a game.
“At 31 years old he has great experience and knowledge; his voice will be terrific around the place and that is exactly what we need.”
