Daggers custodian has conceded just two goals in his last five league games

Dagenham & Redbridge stopper Elliot Justham feels he is starting to hit a good run of form in the Vanarama National League.

The Daggers custodian kept three successive clean sheets earlier this month and has conceded just two goals in five league games following Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Eastleigh.

That compares favourably to the first seven leagues games of the campaign when Justham was unable to record a single shutout.

The 28-year-old has certainly been made to work hard in recent weeks and was again able to make several great saves away to the Spitfires.

And Justham believes he is finding form after a sticky start to the term something he will hope to continue over the coming weeks, starting at Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.

“I feel like my form is coming back after a slow start to the season,” the keeper told the club website.

“I’d rather draw 0-0 and have nothing to do than be busy in a defeat. It’s positive that I was able to make a few saves, but I can’t believe we came away with a 1-0 loss. The point would have been fair.”

It could have been different for Daggers at the Silverlake Stadium had they made the most of a couple of chances just before the interval.

Tomi Adeloye embarked on a brilliantly solo run, but dragged his eventual effort wide of the Eastleigh goal.

Daggers then had an even better chance when Matt Robinson was fouled in the box, only for Chike Kandi to fluff his lines from 12 yards.

Had either effort gone in, Daggers may well have been celebrating a third win of the month on Saturday.

Justham, though, believes both Kandi and Adeloye have it in them to respond to those disappointments in the right manner.

“We all make mistakes, so it’s nothing against them. It would have been nice had we gone in ahead as it would have given us a boost and something to hang on to in the second half,” added the former Luton Town stopper.

“It’s nothing personal, but hopefully we can put them in the back of the net next time.”
