Dagenham & Redbridge winger Sean Shields wins first international cap for Northern Ireland under-21s against Cyprus next Thursday.
Dagenham & Redbridge winger Sean Shields has been called up to represent Northern Ireland under-21s next Thursday in their European Championship qualifier in Cyprus.
It will be the 21-year-old’s first cap for the national side after a successful training camp at the beginning of the month and is part of a 20-man squad who will travel to Nicosia.
Daggers boss Wayne Burnett was delighted to see the midfielder selected and hopes the experience will stand the former Tottenham youngster in good stead as he prepares for his first full season in the Football League with the Victoria Road club.
“I am delighted for Sean and really proud of this achievement,” said Burnett.
“Sean has worked hard at his game and hopefully he can learn a lot from the international experience and bring that back with him as we build up for the new season.”
