Mason Bloomfield boosted his chances of starting for Dagenham & Redbridge in their National League opener on Saturday with a hat-trick in a 3-1 win away to Folkestone Invicta.

The game was arranged as part of the deal that took Scott Heard to Daggers from Folkestone last October.

However, the midfielder lined up for the hosts, having returned to Invicta following his release from the Essex club in May, with another ex-Dagger in Ade Yusuff also playing for Folkestone.

Daggers took the lead midway through the first half at Cheriton Road when Bloomfield found the net after good interplay with fellow forward Joe White.

Early in the second half, the 20-year-old added his second of the night, with White again grabbing the assist.

After Ian Draycott had pulled one back for the hosts, Bloomfield then completed his hat-trick to give John Still food for thought ahead of the Barrow clash on Saturday.
