Defender has agreed new one-year contract with Victoria Road outfit

ian Gayle has signed a new one-year deal to remain with Dagenham & Redbridge.

The defender’s current contract was due to run out at the end of the month but he has now quashed any rumours regarding his future by agreeing a new deal.

He is the eighth Dagger to pen fresh terms with the club, following Jamie Cureton, Andre Boucaud, Ashley Hemmings, Ade Yusuff, Frankie Raymond, Joe Widdowson and Matt Partridge.

The news will come as some relief to Dagenham fans following the news last week that Scott Doe has turned down a new contract to stay at Victoria Road.

Gayle impressed when coming into the squad for the final four games of last season for the suspended Ayo Obileye and could form a solid partnership with Partridge at the back next season.
