Ex-Dagger joins Shrews after leaving Wayne Burnett’s side last month

Former Dagenham & Redbridge captain Abu Ogogo has signed for League One side Shrewsbury Town.

The midfielder announced his intention to leave the Daggers last month and has signed a two-year contract with the Shrews, who won promotion from League Two last season.

Ogogo had captained the east Londoners since 2012 but felt it was the right moment for a new challenge in his career.

“I was at Dagenham for six years and thought it was time in my career that I moved on,” he told the Shrewsbury website.

“I started off there as a right back but have played in midfield in the past few seasons. I’m still only 25 but I’ve played over 250 games now.”

Ogogo played the full 90 minutes when the sides met a Greenhous Meadow in April and will now be turning out at that stadium on a regular basis.
