Dagenham & Redbridge manager unimpressed after Barnet defeat
Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still was left wanting more after seeing his slide slip to the bottom of League Two following a 2-0 loss at home to Barnet.
Goals from Luke Gambin and Michael Nelson either side of half time did the damage for Daggers, who remain four points adrift of safety despite dropping a place in the table.
And Still revealed he was far from pleased with what he saw from the team after previous positive performances in their last two home games, albeit ones that also ended in defeat.
“Since I’ve been back here, I think that was the worst performance that we’ve put in,” said Still.
“I thought we were very good in the week against Wycombe and very good at home to Northampton, but I thought we had no consistent tempo about our game against Barnet.
“I thought the first goal we gave away was really poor defending. I felt were up against it, sometimes you can be behind and be the dominant team, but we never looked like being dominant.”
In truth, Daggers never really looked like troubling the Bees after going a goal down in the 24th minute and the second Barnet goal came after a dreadful piece of defending with Nelson unmarked at the back post.
One positive, perhaps, was that Oliver Hawkins got through 90 minutes for the first time after joining in January and looked to be a threat in the air.
And Still was pleased with the impact the tall forward had on proceedings, but lamented the touches of those around him after Hawkins won his aerial battles.
“Our play was patchy, if we got the ball to Oliver and got in around him, we looked like we might create something,” added Still.
“I was a bit disappointed not with the effort, but we just needed that extra touch of quality at times.”
