A strong Dagenham & Redbridge XI were held to a 1-1 draw at Isthmian Premier side Thurrock on Tuesday night.

The likes of Craig Robson, Fejiri Okenabirhie, Michael Cheek and Morgan Ferrier all started for Daggers at Ship Lane, but could not help their side triumph.

In the 28th minute, the Victoria Road outfit fell behind when Dennis Oli dinked the ball over Daggers stopper Elliot Justham after being played in.

The National League club remained behind at the break, but drew level just 13 minutes into the second half.

England C international Okenabirhie embarked on a mazy run, before pulling to ball back for Cheek to slot home.

No further goals were forthcoming as the match ended level despite chances for both teams before the full-time whistle.

Thurrock (4-4-2): Mason; Morgan, Halle, Goode, Sutton; Christou, Bruce, Spence, R Winn; Stimson, Oli

Subs: G Winn, Cook, Gould, Hall, Insole

Daggers (4-4-2): Justham; Nunn, N’Gala, Robson, Howells; Wheeler, Boucaud, Robinson, Okenabirhie; Ferrier, Cheek

Subs: Bonds, Agboola, Trialist

• Daggers also sent a squad to Isthmian North side Bowers & Pitsea, where they were also held to a 1-1 draw.

The match had been arranged as part of the deal that brought Shomari Barnwell to Victoria Road last November, though the forward has since moved on.

After a goalless first half at the Len Salmon Stadium, Robbie Rees put Daggers ahead when his cross went all the way in.

However, the hosts drew level before the end of a match when Daggers stopper Mark Cousins fumbled a free kick, allowing a Bowers trialist to net.

Daggers (4-2-4): Cousins; Ling, Doe, Pennell, Gordon; Rees, Hyde; Romain, Bloomfield, White, Mongoy.

Subs: Chapman, McCluskey, Brown, Holmes, Fondop, Symes

• Daggers are next in pre-season action on Saturday, when they entertain a West Ham United XI at Victoria Road.
