Essex Senior League Cup second round: Barking 8 Burnham Ramblers 1

Barking made it through to quarter-finals of the Essex Senior League Cup with an 8-1 win at home to divisional rivals Burnham Ramblers.

The Blues went into the cup tie at the top of the Essex Senior League, with Burnham bottom and the match went to form.

James Peagram was the top scorer for the Mayesbrook Park outfit in the rout, netting an astonishing four times to move onto 34 goals in all competitions this season.

Fellow Barking striker Petrit Elbi was another to appear on the scoresheet more than once against Burnham, nabbing a brace.

Max Watters and Omari Delgado were the other scorers for the Blues in the emphatic win as they progressed, with a home tie against either Redbridge or Sawbridgeworth Town their reward in the next round.

The win, though, was marred by the news that Barking had slipped to second in the league as Clapton moved top with a 4-1 win over struggling Haringey & Waltham.

The Blues, though, know they can regain their place at the summit should they win at FC Romania on Saturday and other results go their way.

Barking (4-3-3): Green; Wackers-Kyriacou, Rix, Willis, Ling; Oshin, O’Brien, Pearman; Bricknell, Peagram, Elbi

Subs: Watters, Delgado
