The draw for the third round of this season’s FA Cup has been made

West Ham United will host Sky Bet Championship outfit Birmingham City in the third round of this season’s FA Cup.

The draw for the third round, in which teams from the top two tiers of English football enter the competition, was made on Monday night.

The Hammers have been drawn at home in the cup for the first time in two seasons, having been drawn away to Shrewsbury Town and Wigan Athletic in last term’s competition.

West Ham needed a replay to eventually get past the Shrews in the third round last term, but will be hoping to get through at the first time of asking at home to the Blues this time around.

The match is sure to bring back fond memories for several members of the Hammers board, with David Sullivan, David Gold and Karren Brady previously on the board of Birmingham.

Winners of ties in the third round will pocket £135,500 in prize money, with matches set to take place over the weekend of January 5.
