BARKING manager Dave Ross is looking for a repeat performance when his side entertain Essex Senior League leaders Barkingside on Saturday.

When the two sides clashed last month the game ended in a goalless draw and although Ross concedes their weekend opponents are a powerful side, he is looking for his team to put a dent in their promotion hopes.

"They are a very strong and experienced side," he said. "They are on a high, but I am confident and hopeful we can hurt their promotion ambitions."

And Ross will be looking to that away draw for inspiration. "On that day everyone turned up," he said.

"We played well as a team and we matched them physically, which is half the battle. It's natural that you play better against higher ranked teams. You'd play better against Man United than you would Scunthorpe."

The Blues boss is looking for a reaction after his team's 4-0 mauling at the hands of Romford in their last league outing.

"It's a good opportunity to put the Romford disaster behind us," he said.

"It will be a tough game, but it's important for us to bounce back."

Ross also feels the pressure on Barkingside could help his mid-table side.

"The situation could work in our favour," he said.

"They have a lot to play for, and it could get to them, whereas we will just go and play our own game.
