Jo Richardson 1-0 Roding Valley
JO RICHARDSON School are the kings of the county after a Tyrone Scarlett strike was enough to win the under-16s Essex Cup against Roding Valley.
Scarlett scored with 10 minutes to go as the Dagenham school reined supreme over last season's finalists.
The first half was a tense affair with blustery conditions and cup final nerves making it difficult for both sides to play attractive football.
With chances at a premium, Jo Richardson took full advantage of their first in the game, as a Scarlett low drive found the back of the net.
Sadly for him and his team mates, he was adjudged to have been offside by the linesman and the goal was ruled out.
The nerves settled after half-time as both sides settled down, but it was the Dagenham team who started to work the ball into wide areas and keep control of it.
They kept the pressure on their opponents and were rewarded with 10 minutes left as Scarlett raced away from the Roding defenders and slotted the ball past the on-rushing keeper.
The rest of the game was a real battle for the Dagenham school as Roding threw everything but the kitchen sink at their rivals, but Jo Richardson defended strongly to run out winners.
