HAVING finished as runners-up in their league and cup campaign this season, Dagenham United under-10s finally earned some silverware at the R&T mini-soccer event in Clacton.

They won all three games on the Saturday and won and drew on the Sunday to finish top of their group and earn a place in the final against Essex-based team Signet.

In what proved to be a real battle in rainy conditions, Dagenham played the better football and took the lead thanks to Endrit Muslija's goal, but they could not convert their dominance into further goals and Signet came back in the second half.

Fine goalkeeping from Scott Miller though, denied them an equaliser and the victorious Dagenham boys were presented with the R&T trophy by West Ham legend Billy Bonds.

Michael Meekcoms was voted player of the tournament for his all-round display and four goals, while Louis Phillips also netted four, Muslija claimed two and Kai Heather also scored.

Dagenham United: K Heather, Belcher, Muslija, Lawrence, Turner, Phillips, Gray, Meekcoms, Miller, R Heather.
