JJ Jegede went back to Barking & Dagenham’s Eastbury this week
Great Britain athlete JJ Jegede visited Barking & Dagenham School Eastbury this week as part of his Sky Sports Living For Sport Mentor role.
The Newham & Essex Beagles long jumper has visited the school on two previous occasions in the past couple of years and just can’t stay away as he was present again at Eastbury on Tuesday (June 16).
He has proven to be very popular figure amongst the Eastbury students and staff in the past and the 29-year-old delighted everyone again during his latest trip.
Jegede opened the day by leading the Year 7 assembly to 300 students and 20 staff and this was followed by a 60 minute workshop with 30 of the schools new Year 7 Sports Leaders.
The Londoner spent period two on a ‘PE walk’ popping into a number of Year 7 PE lessons, taking part in activities and talking to staff.
A busy morning meant Jegede didn’t have much time to think about eating, but at 11am he was able to have a healthy lunch in the canteen.
This was followed by a signing and picture session before the long jumper, who competed at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the European Championships in Zurich for Great Britain, departed for another event at the Sporthouse.
A club spokesperson said: “Eastbury staff and students would like to thank JJ for his visit and wish him all the best on his road to recovery and for the future.”
