BARKING-based karate player Tony Gray (pictured above), captured a bronze medal at the British Karate Championships in Edinburgh.

The 40-year-old, who teaches at the United Services Karate Club in Blake Avenue, competed in the Open-weight Masters Kumite category, his first tournament for some time.

"I was disappointed with not winning, but this was my first karate tournament in three years, so it's not a bad result," he said.

"I did train for this event and will continue for next year's English Championships in Sheffield," he added.
