England hockey keeper Maddie Hinch has been put through her paces ahead of this summer’s World Cup in London — albeit in fairly unusual circumstances.

Turning up for what she believed was a promotional shoot, the 29-year-old instead found herself tasked with protecting precious personal items, including her MBE and even her family.

After being greeted by a creepy voice – a cunning disguise for teammates Amy Tennant and Sabbie Heesh – Hinch is told she will undergo a series of challenges specifically designed to test different elements of her game such as her agility and reactivity like never before.

A creation of Red Bull Media House, Hinch faces balls flying at 90kph from a mere distance of eight metres in the first task to save her MBE certificate, sentimental kit and, most importantly, her treasured childhood doll.

The pressure continues for Hinch as she sprints to save her favourite dresses, including her MBE outfit, from balls shot two seconds apart along a runway, putting her fitness as well as her defensive skills in the spotlight.

In the final test, the 2016 Olympic gold medallist has to defend her best friend, dad and mum who are stood in a goal which increases in size by 50 per cent each round.

“I’ve never done anything like this before. The challenges were bizarre but actually tested similar movements I’d use in a game – so I had to be on point at all times.

“It’s been a great break from the normal drills - I couldn’t believe how Red Bull got so many of my friends and family to be in on it. I hope everyone enjoys the edit as much as I enjoyed filming it.”
