WITH only 10 days of the river season to go, all anglers will be hoping that the weather will be kind and let us finish the season with some good catches.

The Thames has just started to produce some good catches of roach and bream, also chub in the favourite areas. Reports indicate that the river has fined down very well, so get your stick floats out.

Most stillwaters have come round now that the extreme temperatures have disappeared, so catches should be reasonable.

Tylers Common has certainly been fishing well recently with some anglers picking up quality fish from all the lakes.

This week double figure carp and bream to 8lbs from Wagtail. Ash is producing double figure carp with most methods. Willow, with the long pole and feeder, also producing.

Match results: British Bakeries this week fished Stambridge front lake. Top weight in a tight finish went to Tony Leonard with 34lbs 4ozs, 2nd Jason Ailey with 33lbs 8ozs, 3rd Rob Mason with 33lbs 3ozs, 4th Les Attfield with 33lbs 2ozs, 5th Dave Camden with 21lbs 8ozs.

The Tuesday open on the Ash Lake at Tylers common was won in style by Dennis Lipscombe (Oakwood Angling) on peg 22 he weighed in 118lbs 8ozs fishing pellet close in and was closely followed by M. Hodges (Bishops Stortford) on peg 20 with 116lbs with pellet at 14m.

Taking third place on the day was Bill Reynolds (Bishops Stortford) on peg 24 with 77lbs fishing pellet on the long pole, 4th M.Toulson (Tylers) on peg 8 with 63lbs 8ozs fishing catmeat close in.

Fifth place went to J.Taylor (Bishops Stortford) on peg 11 with 59lbs Pellet at 14 metres, 6th Rav Pisano on peg 10 with 50lbs.

This week the match will take place on Willow Lake.
