AMATEUR boxing's first title trail of the new year gets underway next week as the NACYP National Youth tournament is launched with the London 'Feds' preliminaries.

Local club hopes will line up for the weigh-in at the Lion BC gym on Tuesday evening with the championship preliminaries taking place on Saturday, January 19 at York Hall, Bethnal Green.

Dagenham Boxing Club name Joe Judd, a boxer signed earlier in the season from the Hornchurch BC in their entries.

Another Dagenham BC youngster, 75kg entry Jack Grindrod, is also named for the championships.

The neighbouring Barking BC have entered another 75 kg competitor Jake Marshall to carry their colours.

Two other local boxers, Jay Carter and Ediz Hussein line up in the powerful 14- strong West Ham BC entry list launching title bids.

Another East London club chasing NACYP honours as usual will be Bethnal Green's powerful Repton club with a 20-strong list of probable starters lining up for the Federation championships to launch a busy schedule for amateur clubs.

Later in the month, the younger prospects look forward to their national title race with the old National schools championships now the Golden Gloves event. Then in February, it will be the seniors chasing honours on the national ABA championship trail getting underway at the North East London ABA title battles.
