BARKING & Dagenham BMX Club held their first club race of the summer series on Sunday.

Even with some of the club's riders having to race winter regional races elsewhere, there was still a great turn-out, which saw some new riders take to the track at competition level for the first time, with one lucky rider winning a year's free membership.

First out of the starting gate were the under-sevens, with Bradley Schofield finishing first and Teddy Parker and Jamie Porter crossing the finishing line in second and third.

Then came the 8-10-year-olds, with with Aaron Ayling impressing as he took first place.

The 11-14-year age group saw Mitchell Barnes winning all three of his qualifying rounds and take first place in the final, with Jordan Bent and Joshua Wallis in second and third.

Martin Parker just finished ahead of his son Tommy to take second place, with Todd Smith taking first place.

Last came the cruiser class, which saw three members of the Humphrey family enter - Matthew Humphrey was first, James third and dad Alan a respectable sixth, with John Andress in second place.
