Luton assistant boss Chris Powell was left frustrated and annoyed after a 2-1 defeat away to Stevenage and a red card for manager Jack Wilshere.
Dan Kemp fired the Boro into the lead after 23 minutes but the Luton bench were incensed there was no foul given on Liam Walsh by Dan Phillips during the build up.
Whatever Wilshere said in response was deemed unacceptable by referee Andrew Humphries, leaving Powell to take care of post-match media duties.
And he also had questions over Stevenage’s second goal too, bundled in by Josh Magennis after 70 minutes.
Powell said: “When you come to Stevenage, you have to be prepared to stand up to them and I felt we did that, but obviously the game turned on a couple of incidents that really, at any level, shouldn’t happen.
“That’s not sour grapes, that’s just me talking on behalf of everyone connected with Luton Town, but the game was decided by a couple of incidents that should have been dealt with a bit better by the officials.
“The stadium kind of stopped, everyone’s expecting a free-kick for us. Of course, you shouldn’t stop, but the way it happened, we were just waiting for the whistle to blow but it didn’t happen.
“Fair enough, it’s a good strike by Dan Kemp but it shouldn’t have got to that.
“Then the second goal, we felt that it was offside and so it was proved when we saw it. You’re just hoping that the officials see these and make good decisions because that’s why they’re there and we need them.
“I felt we were in the ascendancy, we were the side that looked to be a bit better in the final third, but the game is done on two decisions, which is hard to take.”
Mads Andersen pulled one back for the Hatters after 75 minutes but they could not break through the resolute Boro defence, with manager Alex Revell more than happy with his team’s performance.
“It was another game where we’ve seen two teams trying to win,” said the Boro boss.
“It was a great battle. They’re a really good team with really good players but so are we, and we’ve got a group that worked incredibly hard for each other.
“They showed the grit, the determination and that will to win, that really stood out from our boys.
“It was a slow start because Luton keep the ball well, but you have to figure these things out and once we did, and got our press better, I thought that was why we won it.
“We drove forward and the first goal comes from that, whether it’s a foul or not.
“I’m really pleased with the performance and really pleased with the result. It was thoroughly deserved.”
