Blues travel to Stansted on Saturday in a bid to keep Essex Senior League leaders Haringey Borough honest.

Barking boss Mick O’Shea is eager for the Blues to keep the pressure on Essex Senior League leaders Haringey Borough despite the table toppers having a game in hand.

O’Shea’s side moved to within three points of Haringey after a comprehensive 6-1 win over third-placed Waltham Forest on Saturday at Mayesbrook Park.

Striker Tom Jeffes netted a 15-minute hat-trick, while Ben Turner added two and Steve Willis also got on the scoresheet.

And despite Haringey having a game in hand over the Blues, O’Shea is keen for his side to maintain their good form in the hope the leaders slip up.

“It creates a little bit of pressure on them,” said O’Shea.

“They have a game in hand, but you have to win it and we are due to come up against them at their place later on in the season so we have to keep going.

“We are going along well at the moment and the only team we have failed to score against is Haringey in the goalless draw just over a week ago.

“I thought we were unfortunate not to beat them on the day as well, but we are quite happy with how we are doing at the minute.”

Blues make the trip to in-form Stansted side on Saturday, with the Airportmen having won six of their last eight games, including a 1-0 win over leaders Haringey on Tuesday night.

“Saturday will be an interesting one as Stansted are going well at the moment,” added O’Shea.

“They beat Clapton at the weekend which was a good result and we will have to be at our best to keep the pressure up on Haringey.”
