Blues manager reflects on dominant showing in 6-1 victory over Waltham Forest on Saturday.

Barking boss Mick O’Shea was delighted with his side’s impressive performance in the 6-1 win over Waltham Forest at Mayesbrook Park.

Tom Jeffes’ hat-trick helped them along the way, while Ben Turner netted twice, and Steve Willis also got on the scoresheet.

And while O’Shea was pleased with the victory, he felt the Stags side they come up against wasn’t the one which sees them just behind the Blues in third place in the Essex Senior League table

“I was pleased with the performance and the win,” said O’Shea.

“We thought they were going to be quite slow in both full-back positions and square at the back so we changed it about a bit and thankfully it worked.

“Sometimes you don’t know what side will be turning up. I don’t believe it was the side that got them to third in the table.

“We have been playing well over the last month and that bodes well going forward.”

Jeffes’ performance was also praised by the Blues boss, as the striker netted his first hat-trick in five years.

“Tom’s been prolific when he has played and that’s why I brought him over from Clapton where he played last season,” added O’Shea.

The Mayesbrook Park side are without a game this weekend, but head to in-form Stansted this weekend, a team that have won five of their last seven games before tonight’s match with league leaders Haringey Borough.
