UNITED Services Barking KDF Karate Club student Lee Rose finished runner-up at the Toyakwai Karate Championships at Goresbrook Leisure Centre.

Rose, second Dan, fought in the senior kumite and although still a junior, he managed to battle his way to the final, beating the English champion and Brazilian international on the way before losing to senior England international and national champion Alton Brown.

Rose was sharpening his skills for the forthcoming English National Karate Championships in Sheffield in March and this tournament was good preparation for him.
