LACKLUSTRE May & Baker's eventually saw off Brightlingsea at the weekend.

The hosts had the perfect start to the game, scoring from their first scrum, as a blindside move unleashed Irish flyer Owen Henry from the half way line to score under the posts.

Matty Terrett conve-rted and Brightlingsea were shocked into action, taking the game back to Baker's.

Both teams went close with Brightlingsea edging the competition in the forwards.

After 20 minutes, Henry had to go off after picking up an injury and a rejigged back-line lost some cohesion in the process.

A penalty from Terrett made it 10-0 at the break, but in the second half, Brightlingsea continued to clear long whenever the hosts threatened their try-line.

They finally broke through too withn some slick handling.

Baker's finally woke up and found themselves on Brightlingsea's line in the final quarter.

Continued pressure led to scrum half Bryan Eyles going over following a pushover attempt.

The conversion was missed but some solid defence ensured the visitors could find no way back into the match.
