BARKING under-nines let victory slip away from them in this match against Maldon A.
The home side took the game to their opponents from the start and showed touches of class to open up a 2-0 lead.
Liam Green touched down after some fine work by Blake Brooks, Mitch Surety stepped and swerved through tackles to double their advantage.
However, this was probably their undoing as the boys completely switched off and let a well-drilled Maldon score four times themselves for the win.
Rochford Hundred 1
THE last timet these two sides met, the outcome has an evenly-matched draw, and this was no different.
Rochford took the lead just before half time but Barking were not to be denied and some fine work by hooker Dan Wren saw him break through to score what is becoming a trademark try.
Barking probably had the better of the chances in the second half, but despite some good performances from Wren, Dan Garwood, Blake Brooks and Max Davis, they couldn't scored again.
Barking 5 Maldon B 1
After two mediocre performances, Barking were looking to up the ante against a Maldon B.
The boys started slowly again though as Maldon went ahead but, as the match progressed, Barking got their game together and James Garwood went over.
The second half saw a better, if not perfect, performance by Barking with some strong running all over the pitch.
It was Maldon who had two golden opportunities early on though but some first class tackles from Max Davis kept the hosts alive.
This gave the Barking team some impetous they needed as Regan Mason made a fine run to score his second try in as many weeks.
That was followed by scores for Liam Green, Dan Wren and a first-ever try for Billy Hogg who made a great run to touch down in the corner.
Barking: Garwood, Mason, Harman, Wren, Duke, Machin, Green, Shaw, Davis, Hogg, Brooks, Machin, Griffiths, Surety.
