Toshi Kazoku Judokwai’s Fayokemi Abidekun enjoyed a silver lining at the British Under-21 Championships in Sheffield.

The Barking Abbey-based player was in fantastic form, competing in her first year as a junior, as she won all but one of her contests.

Abidekun beat the number one ranked player in her group to finish with a superb silver medal and earn a place on the Great Britain junior squad for next season.

Having competed in a tournament in Spain earlier this year, the club are now waiting to see what the 2019 programme will offer for Abidekun.

And proud TKJ club coach Turan Kiani said: “It has been a tough year for Faye, spending a lot of time out through injury and illness.

“But when returning to full training in the past month or so she has worked hard and she fully deserves her rewards. We are all so proud of her.”
