Match results: No doubt about the winner in the latest Ash Lake match at Tylers Common where Frank Thomas fishing peg 28 weighed in with a massive 144lbs - 30lbs ahead of his nearest rival, writes KEITH LEVERETT.

Second place at the successful Ash Lake event went to Paul Hope who had 114lbs, third Johnny Green with 105lbs.

They were followed by fourth-placed Dennis Lipscombe with 95lbs while P.Reynolds took fifth spot with 75lbs.

At the Saturday Open event on Horseshoe Lake Len Golding fishing peg 44 weighed in with 94lbs, second Alec Roberts 54lbs 12ozs, third Steve Coppen with 52lbs 8ozs.

Fourth on the day at Horseshoe lake was J.Shepherd with 42lbs 2ozs, fifth D.Booth with 40lbs 10ozs, sixth G.Rolfe with 40lbs 8ozs.

Brunswick Brothers members fished the Grand Union Canal at Winkwell, where the total weight was 32lbs 4ozs and top weight went to Tom Flanaghan with 8lbs 8ozs.

Second place to Nicky Warren with 7lbs 8ozs, third Phil Smith with 4lbs 4ozs, fourth D.Farman with 4lbs, fifth George Cole with 3lbs 14ozs, D.Franklin with 1lbs 14ozs, Barry Judge with 1lbs 8ozs, C.Franklin 1lbs.

Reports indicate that the square lake at the Warren is starting to fish well and there has been a noticeable increase in the number of carp being caught.

Float and tip anglers also doing well with quality roach and bream to 8lbs being caught. The Stuart family had a good day on Sunday with roach and perch to 1lbs 8ozs, also carp to 17lbs 8ozs caught on 6lb line.

The match lake had its first Shell club match of the season it saw the match record blitzed by season ticket holder Dave Hemmings from peg 18 with a magnificent 76lbs 12oz bag. The impressive catch consisted of bream to 7lbs also tench and roach.

Runner up was 15-year-old Ross Barnett who weighed in with 37lbs 1oz - a catch which included the biggest tench of the year at 6lbs 14ozs and a bream of 6lbs 10ozs.

Guest angler Mickey Noakes jnr finished in third place with 24lbs 5ozs which included a 6lbs 11oz bream.

On the Wagtail Lake at Tylers Common Ayden North fishing peg 12 had carp to 18lbs on meat and pellet, on peg 37 Brian Whately had barbell to 3lbs, and on peg 36 Steve Mathews had carp to 12lbs on corn. Danny Hayden had roach to 1lb, also carp to 10lbs, all caught on corn.
