Lauren Jones and Fayomei Abidekun both won golds while representing Barking & Dagenham

Toshi Kazoku Judokwai members Lauren Jones and Fayokemi Abidekun collected gold medals for Barking & Dagenham at the London Youth Games earlier this month.

The pair were among six TKJ members in the 14-strong borough squad for the event at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.

Jones and Abidekun won their respective categories to claim valuable gold medals for the Barking & Dagenham team in the race for Jubilee Trophy.

Fellow TKJ members Ruby Delaney and Fobaniyi Abidekun reached the finals in their divisions, but had to settle for silver medals.

Club colleague Justus Smitrius finished in fifth in his category, while Smilte Smitrius came eighth.

Others to claim medals for Barking & Dagenham were Jasmine Abdullaeva (gold), Karen Mungo, Chris Mungo (both silver) and Tommy Batstone (bronze).

Bridget Mungo, Billy Batstone, Danny Batstone and Mikolaj Szczepanik also competed for the borough at this year’s judo finals of the London Youth Games.
