Washington Wizards duo Wall and Beal exciting about playing in London NBA game

Washington Wizards and NBA All-Stars duo John Wall and Bradley Beal are excited about being given the chance to play a match against the New York Knicks in London.

28-year-old point-guard Wall is looking forward to visiting England’s capital for the first-time ever and is hoping it’s similar to when he played a game in Brazil.

“Its great fun for me,” Wall said.

“We went to Brazil and played before, so that was exciting.

“I’ve never been to London, so I think it’s going to be a great atmosphere for me the first time to be there, plus play a basketball game, so I think it’s going to be fun and exciting.”

The five-time NBA all-star is encouraging fans to come along to the game and enjoy the show they plan to put on for the UK basketball fans.

“Well, if you want to see a show, you want to see the D.C. family come down there and tear it up, get some tickets and enjoy watching us play.”

He did however praise the Knicks team and has backed them to go about their business quietly this season.

“They’re a talented team,” Wall admitted.

“Not having (Kristaps) Porzingis there is a different schedule for them, but, they have a lot of talented young guys.

“They have one of my good friends Trey Burke, over there who is talented.

“I think they’re a team that’s going to be flying under the radar, but is still going to compete hard and play hard because coach (David) Fizdale’s is doing a heck of a job.”

Team-mate Bradley Beal is also excited about visiting the UK for the match at the O2 Arena.

“Unbelievably excited. For one, it will be my first time in London, in the UK.

“I’m definitely looking forward to that. I’m excited about that.

“I think I’m happier that they speak English, I don’t have to worry about any barriers.

“I heard the fan base is awesome; whether it is basketball is even football over there.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

25-year-old shooting guard is expecting the crowd to be loud and says they’ll appreciate all the support from the UK fans.

“To be loud and energetic, so that’s exciting in itself.

“I feel like basketball and the NBA is global now and it’s taking over the world.

“I feel like it’s the best sport on the planet. I’m looking forward to it.

“I know the fan base over there is crazy. Whether they’re Knicks fans or Wizards fans, we’re appreciative of their support.”

The Washington Wizards will host the New York Knicks at The O2 on January 17. Fans can watch the game live on Sky Sports or via NBA League Pass.
