A fast-moving roller coaster of a journey through some of the greatest songs of the 50s, 60s and 70s is coming to Barking.

The show, Memory Lane, is planning on taking you back in time with hits from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Abba, Barry Manilow and Tom Jones at the Broadway Theatre on Thursday next week.

It will not just be about music, as there’ll be colourful dance routines and more than 160 costume changes throughout the evening.

Colin Francis, show organiser and comedian, said: “This is our first time at the Broadway.

“I have researched the theatre and it looks a nice venue and it’s nice to get a new venue to perform at.”

Colin and his partner Marie have been touring the country, performing on cruise ships and even toured around India during the last 12 years, but for them nothing beats the interaction with fans.

“At the end of the show we always have the performers go out for a meet and greet,” Colin said.

“The highlight is just seeing the smiling faces in the audience.”

The pair also admitted that anyone attending should expect a lot of colour and memories of some of the old – and possibly now cringeworthy – fashions they may have followed 40 to 50 years ago.

“You should be expecting our lavish costumes, we’ve got over 160 costumes in this show,” he added.

“We also do various music from the 50s, 60s and 70s, we’ve got a mixture of hits, we have got a country and western section.”

The show’s organiser will also play his own trade, by giving the crowd a short stint of comedy on the night.

Memory Lane starts at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 18. Tickets cost £14 to £16 . Visit thebroadwaybarking.com to book your seats.
