To mark the 40th anniversary of Abba’s legendary Eurovision Song Contest victory, an electric night of music is coming to Barking.
Long-running and nationally successful production Thank You for the Music will make its Broadway Theatre debut to regale audiences with the timeless songs from the influential band.
Spandex, glitter and music will be in abundance as the band perform hit after hit.
Show producer Gary Mac recalled seeing Abba win Eurovision and how it paved the way for their success.
“They came out in their spandex and glitz and managed to out-Eurovision the Eurovision Song Contest, and you knew that they were going to win before they even sang a note,” he said.
“Despite that, the harmonies are deceptively intricate. The songs are very big musical numbers – they tell a story and are written to be performed by professional singers.
“Each song is a performance.”
Gary lauded the cast of the tribute production, saying: “What you‘ll find with our show is that the guys on stage are actual musicians and there is a lot of interaction with the audience.
“They can change the set according to what people are into.
“We regularly get dancing in the aisles, standing ovations come quite frequently and I think it is a great night out where you can lose yourself for hours.”
The show starts at 8pm on June 28. Tickets cost between £16 and £18. Call 020 8507 5607 to book.
