Chadwell Heath South Residents’ Association organised the showing of the film on Friday, with Valence House to coincide with what would have been the 98th birthday of Ray Harryhausen, a special effects artist who worked on the film.

The night was also the last chance for the public to see the Dinosaurs, Harryhausen and Me exhibition, which contains many of the famous models and artwork designed by Mr Harryhausen and Dagenham resident Alan Friswell for the Jason and the Argonauts film.

“The night was a fitting tribute to Mr Harryhausen - a true pioneer of special effects and one of the film industry’s greatest icons,” said Rama Muraleetharan, a member of the association.

This was the second film screening organised by the association following the Valentine’s Day showing of Titanic at the former Embassy Cinema in Chadwell Heath.
