MAVERICK TV detective John Luther was running riot around Dagenham last week filming two BBC1 specials.

A film crew descended on Rainham Road South to film the new episodes following the murder squad investigator, played by Idris Elba, on the run from police after being framed for his wife’s murder.

Elba, 38, said: “I’m really excited to be coming home to play Luther again. He’s got so many more stories to tell, assuming he manages to live long enough.”

The dramatic scenes to be aired next year were shot at a filling station near Bespoke Flowers on December 6 and 7.

Oliver Ratcliff, 31, of Bespoke Flowers, said: “My wife Kim loved the first series. There were a lot of people, 40 cars and trucks.

“We’re looking forward to seeing it on TV and also how long the scene will last on the BBC programme.”

The first series broadcast last year attracted up to 6.5million viewers.
