Theatre lovers are set to enjoy a play about the first man to go into space twice.
Set in 1967 at the height of the Cold War, The Altitude Brothers is based on the true story of Vladimir Komarov and the Soyuz 1, which was launched untested and behind schedule in a final effort to keep up with the Americans.
Two friends, thousands of miles apart must grapple with a flawed machine in order to snatch glory from the jaws of disaster. A true story of humble beginnings and lofty ambitions, of pioneers and flyboys, all underscored with a live soundtrack and vodka by the bottle: a Russian perspective on the race to the Moon.
The play, which was written by co-artistic director Daniel Foxsmith, was developed in association with the Redbridge Drama Centre and will be performed by the Snuff Box Theatre company.
