Two teenagers from Barking and Dagenham have been arrested following an alleged aggravated burglary in Essex.

It was reported to Essex Police that an address in Quebec Road, Tilbury, had been broken into.

The report claimed the break-in happened shortly after 4.50am on Friday, June 16 and a car was stolen.

Later on the same day, the alleged stolen vehicle activated an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera and officers carried out a search for it.

Following a search, officers located the vehicle in Wallace Road at which point two of the people inside allegedly got out and made off.

The vehicle then also left the scene but a pursuit was carried out and brought to a stop following tactical contact.

A 17-year-old boy from Grays, Essex was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated burglary, possession of a knife and possession of Class B or C drugs.

A 15-year-old boy from Dagenham and a 16-year-old boy from Barking were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and aggravated burglary.

All three have been released on bail until September 14.
